Who Is Harvey?
Harvey is the heart of Healthy With Harvey. He’s a big, friendly dog with a curious mind and a happy spirit—full of questions, ideas, and the same everyday challenges children face. Like all kids, Harvey doesn’t get everything right the first time. He sometimes worries, sometimes gets things wrong, and sometimes feels unsure. But every day, he learns something new.
Through Harvey’s stories, children discover that being healthy isn’t about being perfect—it’s about making good choices, learning from mistakes, and trying again with confidence and kindness. Decision-making is the foundation of healthy behavior, and Harvey shows children that each new day is a fresh opportunity to practice. His adventures help kids laugh, think, feel understood, and feel proud of their growing independence.

Families deserve trusted, science-based information and tools to help children grow up healthy, confident, and safe.
We create engaging, developmentally appropriate stories and resources that make health understandable for young children—and reassuring for the adults who guide them.
Our Founders
Susan K. Laird DNP, MSN, RN, CPC, BCPA, GC-C
Susan brings together deep clinical expertise and decades of experience in public health communication. She has served as an Emergency Department nurse, a federal public health leader at the CDC for 16 years, a Certified Professional Coach, a Board-Certified Patient Advocate, and a Certified Grief Counselor. With advanced training in nursing and a career spent translating science into meaningful guidance for families, Susan brings a whole-person, compassionate approach to Healthy With Harvey.
David C. Laird MSIS, MSHA
David contributes a strong background in customer service and information technology, holding master’s degrees in Computer Information Science and Health Administration. He currently works at a renowned children’s hospital, where he helps support systems that keep families and providers connected and informed. His expertise ensures that Healthy With Harvey remains accessible, reliable, and technologically sound.

Healthy With Harvey, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) organization powered entirely by volunteers—no salaries, no stipends, no government or pharmaceutical funding. That means every donation, no matter the size, goes directly toward creating more stories, activities, songs, and guidance for families everywhere.
