Harvey Helps a Friend

Hi, it’s Harvey.

The stars are peeking out tonight, and I can still hear a few crickets singing outside my window.

My paws feel warm under the blanket, and my heart feels warm too—because I helped a friend today. My buddy Oliver dropped his favorite toy bone in a puddle. He looked so sad.

I ran over, wagged my tail, and gently pulled it out for him. My fur got a little wet, but that was okay. When I saw his smile, I forgot all about it.

Helping someone feels like a tiny sparkle inside my chest. It’s not loud or fancy, but it shines just the same.

When I got home, Mom said, “I’m proud of you, Harvey. You made someone’s day better.”

I think helping is like sharing sunshine—you still get to keep some for yourself.

Now, as I close my eyes, I’m thinking about all the ways I can help tomorrow— maybe carrying in the mail, or sharing my ball again.

Good night, friends. Let’s dream of helping hands and happy hearts.

A Note to Parents and Caregivers

Parent tip: Encourage your child to name one small helpful thing they can do tomorrow—help set the table, pick up toys, or comfort a friend.
